This is such an inspiring story of resiliency and perseverance
This book was so well written with such a difficult story to share. I enjoyed how the story was written to see the different perspectives of how each of them went through the journey – together, and apart. This is such an inspiring story of resiliency and perseverance for anyone recovering from a stroke to see how they themselves and their families go through the healing process.

This is an inspiring story of recovery and growth.
This is a well written, engaging story of the struggles and challenges faced by two people through the most difficult time of their lives. It is, at times, heart wrenching to read but it does give insight to the struggles and stressors someone who has had a stroke may be facing and their family. This is an inspiring story of recovery and growth.
He is known to be conscientious, hard-working and trustworthy
Siva is one of the eminent surgeons at Chatham Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) delivering compassionate patient care. During his practice he has always responded promptly and with devotion to calls for acutely ill patients even if it is only for only a minor surgical procedure. He is known to be conscientious, hard-working and trustworthy.
He unfortunately had a stroke, and this occurred while he was about to perform a minor procedure at the bedside of a patient. Staff members at large were surprised, and being popular and liked by his colleagues, nurses and allied health care professionals, he received innumerable visits during his hospital stay as an expression of sympathy and support.
This book is an inspirational story of a surgeon and his family going through life and work adjustment after an abrupt unexpected medical illness. The writing style is easy to follow and once we start to read the book, we are eager to know what happens next. It will help people who are in a similar situation to cope with life challenges during the various phases ranging from the acute illness, recovery, rehabilitation, return to home in the family environment, and progressive accommodation over time to a stage which may or may not be the individual baseline. It highlights the patience and perseverance of the family working together with intense mutual support and courage during this prolonged course.
Siva and Prema who have been surgeons at CKHA for a long time providing dedicated patient care relate their experience of what it feels like to be a patient and the work done by the hospital personnel providing best care to sick patients.
Siva describes how he grew in his home country, Malaysia, and in India during his childhood through adolescence with a passion in overcoming challenges that led him to be high performing surgeon striving to always improve and go the extra mile.
The process for Siva’s to return to work was a lengthy one and notably the licensing authority had no precedence for surgeons who developed a stroke. He eventually went through a period of supervision that unfortunately did not grant him eligibility to practice as a fully fledged surgeon, however, he was deemed independent to perform minor surgeries and endoscopies which he is currently enjoying. He was able to reach this level and resume his practice as a surgeon through his strong self-determination with the support of his wonderful family.
Siva, being a person who has a passion to venture across all boundaries to give the best of himself and to excel, keeps the inherent desire to be back to his performance level prior to his stroke.
It is a pleasure to see Siva in the ambulatory care amidst a wide array of minor surgeries, always with a smile and engaging in lively conversations. He is, as ever, a very well respected highly skilled surgeon at CKHA providing dedicated service to the patients of our community.
Exceptionally well written and presented
Critique: Exceptionally well written and presented, as well as holding a particular relevance and interest for readers who are having to deal with similar medical issues, “Frontiers: The Journey of Two Surgeons Through Stroke” is as informative as it is ultimately inspiring.
